Kathleen Sowder is a Junior Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist for 413. She is finalizing her M.A. in International Security with the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. Kathleen holds a B.A. in French and a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Comparative Politics from the University of South Carolina. She has participated in researching political accountability and government oversight, evaluating civil societies’ role in countering executive overreach, and coding anti-colonial resistance campaigns in Africa.  

Prior to joining our team, Kathleen worked as a Program Assistant in development for a nonprofit, managing grants and client relations. She has lived and worked in France, participated in the Boren Scholarship to Senegal, and studied Darija in Morocco. She speaks French and conversational Wolof. Kathleen grew up in South Carolina and her family calls Charleston home. She enjoys exploring the city, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
